Through its first four decades, the history of UAB School of Health Professions has been one of rapid growth and dramatic change—all while setting the standard for health-care training and research. That growth has never been more apparent than in recent years. While institutions across the nation were cutting budgets, staffs, and programs, the SHP’s mission remained as ambitious as ever—and subsequent increases in the numbers of students and research dollars have put a premium on classroom and laboratory space as the school continues growing up and moving forward.
