Nursing Skills Course
(Offered as NUR 391 during Spring, 2007) 

This 2 credit course will prepare the student to safely carry out basic nursing skills ( taking blood pressures, pulse rates, temperatures; bathing patients; safely transferring patients from bed-to-chair; etc). The content and clinical practice will meet the admission requirement for the UAB School of Nursing Undergraduate Program.

In Spring, 2007, the Nursing Skills course will be offered twice in 2 sessions:

Session 1 (NUR 391A):  January 11 - February 18, 2007

Session 2 (NUR 391B):  March 1 - April 15, 2007

No classes March 15 & 17 - Spring Break. 

Classes will be scheduled in the Learning Resource Center (LRC).  Clinical applications to be arranged in local health care facilities.   

Anyone planning to apply to the BSN program in the UAB School of Nursing will be required to have completed a Nursing Skills course.  This course will meet that admission requirement and is open to any UAB pre-nursing student.  Enrollment will be limited to 16 students in each of the 2 sessions on a first come, first served basis.

To register for either Nursing Skills session, you must come by the School of Nursing Student Affairs Office (Nursing Building Room 105) and pick up an authorized registration form for one of the NUR 391 Nursing Skills courses. You must then register (in person) through the UAB Registrar’s Office (HUC 207) following the usual practices and policies. Spaces are limited and registration is first come, first served.
