Rec Center welcomes kids for Fall Family Fest

Got a child or younger sibling at home who could grow up to be a Blazer one day? The Campus Recreation Center's inaugural Fall Family Fest is a great opportunity to introduce them to UAB.

Of course, even if you're a "big kid," you're welcome to attend and enjoy the fun.

The free event takes place Friday, November 8 from 5-7 p.m. and features a magician, live animals, science experiments, face painting, and more fun. While you're there, you can enjoy free popcorn and cotton candy, as well as sample some new 10-calorie beverages (to offset the popcorn and cotton candy).

Here's the schedule of activities:
5:00-5:30 p.m. Face painting and photo booth pictures
5:30-6:00 p.m. Visit with special guests from the Birmingham Zoo
6:00-7:00 p.m. Performance by magician Ken Scott

The festival is sponsored by Usborne Books & More which will have books available for sale for kids of all ages.

After the Fall Family Fest, head over to Bartow Arena as the UAB men's basketball team tips off at 7 p.m. for their first game of the season.
