In Fall 2016/Spring 2017, Student Housing is offering 2 freshmen theme communities.

What is a Themed Community?

A Themed Community is a living-learning environment where students with similar interests live together and participate in specially designed programs that cater to their academic, social, and personal needs. Residents living in Themed Communities have the opportunity to partake in academic, cultural, and social experiences with their peers and interact with faculty, enjoying the benefits of being part of a diverse community that shares these scholarly interests.

Each Themed Community is associated with a Resident Assistant, a number of campus departments, and student organizations giving students the opportunity to engage in additional activities that enhance their overall collegiate experience. Students will be part of a close-knit, living and learning community that encourages personal growth, fosters social responsibility, and develops personal leadership skills here at UAB.

All students, regardless of major, identity, or background, are strongly encouraged to apply for a Themed Community. All you need is your passion and commitment to make living in your Themed Community a successful and enjoyable experience.
