Mission

            The purpose of the Data Management and Analysis Core (DMAC) of the UAB Center for Aging is to assist and collaborate with investigators concerning data management needs and statistical analysis approaches for funded research programs.

Facility Description

            Dr. Roth's office is located in 309B of the Ryals Public Health Building.  Hardware and software resources are available from the School of Public Health and from the Center for Aging (201 Community Health Services Building).

Services and Fees

            Services available from this Core include: 1) conducting monthly seminars illustrating recent developments and applications in data management and analysis, 2) assisting investigators with applications for extramural funding by generating power estimates and developing appropriate analytic approaches for testing study hypotheses, 3) providing resources and expertise on data entry and data management systems including teleform data entry methods and database design, and 4) collaborating with investigators on research design issues, alternative statistical analysis procedures, and multivariate modeling approaches.

            The Core is funded primarily through percent effort allocations for Core faculty and staff on existing extramural research projects.  Fees for studies that are currently unfunded or in the proposal stage are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
