After an undergraduate degree from
Hillsdale College in Michigan, Dr. Jordan received his MD from
Emory University in 1988. Then completed a General Surgery Residency
at UAB in 1993 and then completed a Vascular Fellowship at Emory
in 1994. He joined the UAB faculty in 1994 and currently serves
as Professor and Chief of the Section of Vascular Surgery and
Endovascular Therapy. Recently he received the position of Holt
A. McDowell, Jr., Endowed Chair in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Jordan’s board certifications include the 1989 NBME,
1994 ABS, and 1996 Vascular Surgery Board with Recertification
in 2006. Currently, Dr. Jordan serves as a Director on the Vascular
Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery. He also serves
on the Editorial Boards of the Annals of Vascular Surgery, Journal
of Vascular and Endovascular Therapy, and the Journal of Vascular
Surgery. He has also received the 1999 Presidential Award from
the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery and has served as
President of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society. He maintains
leadership positions in other Vascular Societies as well. His
current major interests include: aortic reconstruction with endovascular
techniques. Additionally, he has established a Vascular Fellowship
Training Program at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2003
and has graduated four fellows. Finally, he created a UAB Vascular
Data Base to track clinical outcomes and to coordinate research
projects that now includes over 22,000 patients. He also has professional
consultationships with major medical corporations including a
scientific advisory board for Vascular device companies. He has
over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and presents the
research and clinical work of the Vascular Section at National
and International Meetings.
