|President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for the School of Optometry goes to Dr. Tim Gawne
Award recipients are chosen from each of the schools by a school-established selection committee. Each faculty member so-honored receives a cash award and a remembrance of his or her achievement. The formal honoring of faculty for teaching accomplishments with the President's Awards was begun by former UAB President Charles A. McCallum in 1990.
|The Odessa Woolfolk Community Service Award goes to Dr. Larry DeLucas
The Odessa Woolfolk Community Service Award is given annually to one UAB faculty member who has provided outstanding service in the Birmingham community in one or more several areas including education and economic development. Odessa Woolfolk is an educator and civic activist. Her leadership role in creating and sustaining the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is merely the best-known of many contributions to her city and state. She was one of the founders of Leadership Birmingham and has served on the boards of dozens of civic, community, corporate, and public policy organizations.
The Faculty Awards Convocation will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 4:00PM at the UAB National Alumni Society House
