NA4A0198The UAB Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the UAB National Alumni Society, will host the 2019 Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The UAB football team will continue one of college football’s greatest new traditions of honoring Children’s Harbor on Homecoming against Old Dominion at Legion Field.

The Blazers will wear their alternate grey and lime uniforms with the names of patients from nearby Children’s Harbor on their back. The uniforms have made national headlines each of the last two years the and Homecoming games have had dramatic endings.

UAB is coming off its best season in program history in which the Blazers finished 11-3 overall and won the program’s first C-USA title and bowl game. UAB is 12-0 at Legion Field since 2017 and owns the nation’s fifth longest active home winning streak entering the 2019 campaign.

Homecoming is a weeklong celebration of the UAB experience that is filled with events to display Blazer spirit and pride. The first Homecoming was celebrated at UAB during the 1979 Men's Basketball season and was held in the winter. In 1994, Homecoming transitioned to fall to be held during the football season. That year, two Homecomings were held, one in January and the other in October. Since then, Homecoming has been celebrated during the fall semester.

Each homecoming, the UAB National Alumni Society, along with the rest of the UAB community, hosts events throughout the week. Homecoming is an amazing opportunity to connect with UAB alumni, students, faculty, staff and Blazer fans.
