St. Clair Children's Advocacy Center # 129
The St. Clair Children's Advocacy Center operates The Children's Place in Pell City, Alabama as a resource and training facility. The Children's Place is designed to reduce trauma on the victim of child abuse by providing a non-threatening environment where children who are believed to be sexually or severely physically abused and their non-offending family members can come for sensitive help in the form of forensic interviews and counseling. The center serves as a forum where agency representatives and professionals who work with abused children gather and coordinate their work to assist the victims of child abuse and their families. The mission of the center is to "...foster family development and to enhance family functioning by coordinating services for victims of child abuse and their families ...facilitating cooperation between agencies, training, professionals, and providing education that will increase public awareness and prevent child abuse."

St. Clair County's District Attorney's Office, The St. Clair County Department of Human Resources, and Friends of Children (a volunteer child abuse prevention group) joined together by investing time and resources to make the center a reality. In the mid eighties, these groups offered parenting classes and eventually formed the center in order to receive grant money. In 1993, the center moved from a garage apartment when eight acres of land and a house designed specifically for the center was donated by a St. Clair County family. Since that time, the center has become a member of the National Children's Alliance and the Alabama Network of Children's Advocacy Centers.
