The Benevolent Fund operates two Blazer Kitchen shopping locations. The central location is the 1613 Building, and a satellite location specifically for students operates at the Hill Students Center 303 in the Office of Student Outreach. Here’s what you need to know:

• All UAB students and employees must present a valid UAB ONE card or VIVA health employee badge.
• The frequency of participation in Blazer Kitchen is identified on a monthly basis based on need and availability. Frequency guidelines can change at the discretion of the staff.
• Blazer Kitchen will be closed on all UAB observed holidays.

This form is required for food available through USDA; other food will be available for employees and students who are food insecure but do not meet USDA requirements.
• Blazer Kitchen is managed by the Benevolent Fund in collaboration with:

  • Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration
  • UAB School of Public Health – AmeriCorps VISTA Statewide Program

Blazer Kitchen at the 1613 Building provides food to students, employees, and patients in need at 1613 11th Avenue South. This location is open Tuesdays, 1-5 (patients only); Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Friday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Please register for a time slot to minimize wait time for shopping. Walk-ins will be accommodated as time allows. Park in the lot beside the building. Blazer Kitchen at the Hill Student Center provides food to students in need at 1400 University Blvd in Suite 303. This location is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Individuals who come to shop should find available street parking. Blazer Kitchen welcomes volunteers 18 years of age or older or youth volunteers who are accompanied by an adult. Please register to volunteer through BlazerPulse at Blazer Kitchen 1613 Building or Blazer Kitchen Hill Student Center. Log in or create a profile if you do not already have one. UAB students and employees should use their Blazer ID to create their profile and populate data to measure UAB community engagement. If you are interested in partnering with Blazer Kitchen for a service learning designated course, please submit the Service Learning Application Form. Please note that we cannot always accommodate every service learning request every semester due to space limitations, but we encourage applications every semester (particularly in spring and summer semesters).
