The Accounting Bridge Certificate is designed to transition individuals into the accounting industry by providing a sold foundation in accounting principles and how to apply them in practice. The AC Bridge Certificate prepares students for success in the UAB Master of Accounting program

For those who do not already have a bachelor’s degree in accounting from a regionally accredited university that was received less than five years before desired term of enrollment, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and/or a grade of B or better in accounting courses can be admitted to the Masters of Accounting program by completing the AC Bridge Certificate with a grade of B or better in all courses. 

In some cases, prospective MAc students may be able to waive the AC Bridge Certificate requirement through appealing to the Accounting Program. Applicants might be able to waive all eight courses, take some of the courses, or have the appeal denied.

AC Bridge Certificate curriculum

The certificate consists of eight courses covering principles of accounting, financial accounting, cost accounting, and income taxation.

  • The AC Bridge Certificate requires that students earn a C or better in all eight courses. However, please note that prerequisite requirements for some courses is a B or better.
  • Admission to the UAB MAc program requires a minimum grade of B or better in all courses completed in the AC Bridge Certificate program.
