Project mgt4 copy 400

In today’s competitive world the effective execution of value-adding business processes and related projects is imperative. The UAB Collat School of Business Management, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods department and the Project Management Institute, Birmingham chapter are again offering the Project Management Certificate Program. The program’s approach provides the content and rigor of a graduate level academic course and practicality provided by practicing project managers.

This course provides a total of 36 contact hours of combined face to face and online instruction, and meets the education requirements needed to sit for the PMP or CAPM exams.

The UAB Collat School of Business recognizes the need for those managing projects to be trained and certified in the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).

Our Project Management Certificate Program continues to receive high evaluations from participants and is continuously improved as a result of the suggestions.

The certificate course includes training in the PMI Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) with instruction and exercises covering the project management knowledge areas and process groups with problem and project solution exercises and examples. The course provides instruction and exercises in the use of the Microsoft Project software tool. Also included is payment of a participant's membership in the Project Management Institute including the PMI Central Alabama Chapter for one year.

The PMI 2013 salary survey lists the following yearly salaries for the United States:  Project Manager I median salary: $86,000, Project Manager III median salary: $105,000, Program Manager median salary: $120,000, and Portfolio Manager median salary: $126,000.

Consider the following data from Certification Magazine's annual survey:

  • Project managers earn an average salary of $85,850
  • Professionals with PMP certification earn an average of $95,820
  • Certified individuals averaged a 16% pay increase from certification

A recent endorsement: "I just wanted you to know that I earned my PMP certification last Friday. You provided a great course which helped prepare me for the exam tremendously, so thank you!" - Stephanie Millard, spring 2014 participant.
