Students are strongly encouraged to engage in an internship while earning their degree. There are several major advantages to students who serve as interns:

Job Opportunities.
First, it is estimated that over 90% of IS students  who engage in an internship are offered a job at the conclusion of the internship. An internship usually leads to a job offer. For those students who have full-time jobs, we encourage you to distinguish between holding a JOB and building a CAREER.

Experience A Variety of IT Positions. Second, many students are not sure what area of IS they would truly be most fulfilled. Some of our internships allow students to work in a variety of IT positions within a large company. At the end of the internship, the intern usually has a much better understanding of the specific area of IS that would be most satisfying as a career.

"Premier" Internships Available. Third, our “premier” internships are with large entities that are well respected, and are “scholars” positions. The entities include Regions Bank and several divisions of Southern Company. Interns generally answer directly to the CIO in these companies. The companies not only pay the student to work, but also provide a full scholarship during the internship (Scholars Internship). You have the opportunity to compete for these prized positions and enjoy the financial and career-building opportunities they provide.
