The Bridge to Success Project, a program established by the Academic and Small Business Alliance (ASBA), selects Collat School of Business students to intern with small and Diverse Business Enterprises (DBEs) in order to establish mutually beneficial relationships that will allow DBEs to build capacity for UAB supplier opportunities, students to get hands-on experiences and UAB to partner with the underserved community.

The program, now in its 2nd year, is a partnership between UAB Collat School of Business, Department of Supplier Diversity stakeholders and a number of community business owners. Currently, the program has 17 businesses participating, 20 interns, and several students have secured full-time jobs. The DBEs have also contributed $30,000 in scholarships this semester to Collat School of Business students.

Supplier Diversity is a core value at UAB that encourages the use of companies owned, operated and controlled by minorities, women, veterans as well as small businesses (as defined by the Small Business Administration). Collectively, these companies are referred to as Diverse Business Enterprises (DBEs).
