All students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community at large are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, December 9 at 10 a.m. at the future site of the new building. The site is located on a parking lot on University Boulevard between 12th Street South and 13th Street South, next to the pedestrian bridge that crosses University Boulevard.

"This new building will be transformational for our school, and we are thrilled to be able to share our excitement and our plans with the community at our groundbreaking," said Eric P. Jack, PhD, dean of the UAB Collat School of Business.

Many business and community leaders, alumni and UAB dignitaries are expected to attend, including UAB President Ray Watts, Mayer Electric Chairman Emeritus Charles Collat, and Medical Properties Trust CEO Ed Aldag.

Site construction is expected to begin on December 19 and last 18 months. This new state-of-the-art facility, Birmingham’s new home for innovation, will welcome its first classes in fall 2018. The facility will include advanced classrooms, lecture halls, faculty-student breakout rooms, and other amenities that modernize not only what students learn, but the ways in which they learn it.
