cfa logoThe UAB Collat School of Business has been approved to participate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute’s University Affiliation Program and will receive six annual scholarships for finance students to offset costs of the Level 1 CFA exam.

The CFA designation is the most prestigious professional designation in the finance and investment industries. The scholarships will waive the CFA $450 enrollment fee and reduce the registration fee to $350. Each scholarship will range from $800-$1550.

Collat finance instructor Daniel Sanabria serves as principal contact for the program and will be responsible for awarding the six scholarships each year. Sanabria will also have exclusive access to the CFA curriculum and sample exams for students.

Finance major Jacob Irvin passed the CFA Level 1 exam last year.

"It is a major accomplishment," Sanabria said. "Earning a passing grade in CFA Level 1 before graduation unlocks substantial career opportunities in the financial industry for students. We are thrilled to now be able to offer scholarships for them to take it."

To qualify for participation in the University Affiliation Program, academic institutions must embed a significant portion of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge into their curriculum. The Candidate Body of Knowledge provides key knowledge and skills accepted by investment professionals globally.

As a CFA University Affiliate, Collat joins a network of universities worldwide dedicated to providing students the tools to succeed in finance.

Students intending to take the CFA exam and interested in applying for the scholarships should contact Daniel Sanabria.
