Chris Shubert, UAB Management alumni (‘07) and recent graduate of UAB's General Surgery program, is one of only eleven graduates from across the country accepted to undergo training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.
"It's going to prepare me on a level by being trained by the nation's best," Shubert said. "I'm very excited about the chance to be able to train at Mayo -- it will certainly help me to become a better surgeon and I'm looking forward to a tremendous experience."
Medical school and a career as a health care provider was not the first path for Chris, settling into UAB’s business school was first. “Though a lot of people go with a biology major, those people often end up working in a lab or teaching high school -- neither of which really interested me,” said Shubert. “So I chose business school with the thought of getting an MBA. Even if I did get into medical school, this business knowledge wouldn't hurt me."
