Instructor Mickey Gee told Birmingham Business Journal’s Antrenise Cole that for all areas, including Alabama, with low consumer distress index scores, the blame can be placed on the issues of unemployment and underemployment – factors that aren’t going to change anytime soon.

Gee said consumer distress index results could be damaged further in the future by any cutbacks in defense, which would have a major impact to Alabama’s economy.
