The UAB Collat School of Business students now have the opportunity to major in human resources with a dedicated Bachelor of Science in human resource management degree program. Previously, Collat offered a degree in management with a concentration in human resources. This new degree will expand upon that increasingly popular program, and is now enrolling students.

MoneySenseLast summer, UAB student Brandon Pickett worked as a lead counselor in a camp where the kids learned survival skills—the kind involving dollars and cents. During the four-day Money Math Camp, he and other counselors taught 45 middle-schoolers from low-income and minority school districts about money management and the impact of career choices on future lifestyles.

Each of the six Franks brothers has received an undergraduate degree from the university, spanning nearly two decades of studying at the campus.

collat new buidling rendering exteriorStage three planning for the new building that will house the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business and Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has been approved by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.

Stage three approval by the board authorizes the university to proceed with the design phase of the project, and follows last September’s stage two approval that granted architect selection, project scope and project budget plans.

Yates wins diversity award Collat School of Business Finance Professor Stephanie Yates, Ph.D., was recently awarded the 2016 President’s Award for Diversity from UAB’s Vice President for Equity and the Office of the Vice Provost for Student and Faculty Success. The annual award is given to outstanding faculty, staff and students for their achievements towards a more inclusive, diverse and competent university community. Award criteria include significance, implementation and impact of community service.
