Goal

journal clubGiven the breadth of addiction and pain, it is critical to bring clinicians and investigators from diverse disciplines together to share their perspectives. The overall goal of the CAPPI Journal Club is to foster collaborations and exchanging of ideas among researchers and clinicians from diverse disciplines toward team science and clinical initiatives focused on pain and addiction.

Frequency/Duration

The Monthly CAPPI Journal Club is every third Friday at noon via Zoom. Addiction articles will be presented on odd-numbered months and pain articles will be presented on even-numbered months. Content

Meetings occurring during even-numbered months will focus on addiction, with meetings occurring during odd-numbered months that will focus on pain. Occasionally, articles may focus on the intersection between pain and addiction. Within each area of focus, a variety of topics will be addressed with regard to content (e.g., MAT for addiction, pain management modality), perspective (i.e., basic vs. applied research), methodological approach (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods), and discipline (e.g., anesthesiology, psychology, public health).

Members

All are welcome to attend, including UAB faculty, staff, fellows/residents, interns, and students from any department and members of the community.
