Dr. Burel Goodin

Dr. Lisa Antoine received her B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1990 and North Carolina A&T State University in 1993, respectively. During 2020, she earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Lisa’s dissertation research included the use of neural imaging and computational fluid dynamics to predict the optimal catheter placement selection for therapy infusion to treat brain tumors.

As a postdoctoral researcher in the UAB Department of Psychology – Dr. Burel Goodin’s lab, Lisa uses neural imaging to investigate the effects of mindfulness meditation and transcranial direct current stimulation on knee osteoarthritic pain. As an IRACDA-MERIT Scholar, Lisa receives support for her research in the lab from NIH/NIGMS.
