A skull in the department's collection. Students who wish to join the Anthropology Honors program must satisfy the following eligibility requirements.

Criteria for entering freshmen are:

  • All regularly-admitted students with a declared major in anthropology are eligible to enter the program.
  • Continuing participation in the program requires maintenance of an overall 3.0 GPA and a 3.25 GPA in anthropology.

Criteria for students already enrolled at UAB or transfer students are:

  • All regularly-admitted students with a declared major in anthropology are eligible to enter the program.
  • Continuing participation in the program requires maintenance of an overall 3.0 GPA and a 3.25 GPA in anthropology.

Real-World Benefits

If you join the honors program you will benefit by acquiring additional research skills to successfully enter and compete in internationally oriented graduate and professional programs. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate at the annual UAB Honors Convocation and will graduate "With Honors in Anthropology."
