Renee GainerRenee Gainer is an animal behaviorist/environmental enrichment coordinator at UAB in the Animal Resources Program and is pursuing an MA in Anthropology at UAB. Her interest in human origins led her to the Anthropology Department at Florida State University, where she received a BS in Biological Anthropology.

It was a primatology class that steered her in the direction of a degree in Zoo Animal Technology. That led to a 15 year career as a zoo keeper at several zoos across the southeast, specializing in primates, with a particular interest in gorilla behavior.

Aside from anthropology, her interests are eclectic, ranging from opera to volunteering at a local historic cemetery. She also enjoys spending time with her Chinese Crested dogs.
