Currently I am studying the ecology and conservation of the Diamondback Terrapin. This turtle is a protected species that has drastically declined over the past century in Alabama. I am studying one of the most important habitats in Alabama for this species, Cedar Point Marsh, which is located just north of Dauphin Island. I am utilizing new technologies to evaluate the life history and reproductive ecologies of this species. These technologies include the use of remote data loggers, infrared wildlife cameras, and remote drones in an effort to evaluate the status of this species, better understand its biology and ecology, and enhance its recovery in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
