I incorporate morphological data gathered from numerous fossil sea turtles into time-calibrated phylogenetic models constrained by DNA based cladograms of modern species in order to systematically classify poorly known fossil species and better understand the evolutionary origins of extant forms.

From a broader perspective, I am also interested in how past climatic fluctuations have influenced the global diversity and distribution of marine turtles in order to predict how future alterations in Earth's climate may impact marine turtle populations.
