Jessica SmithJessica Smith earned her B.A. in English and Comparative Literature and M.A. in Comparative Literature from SUNY Buffalo, which is also known as UB and is like the UAB of the North. There, she taught English 101, 102, 201, and 242, which were similar to the EH 101 and 102 courses she now teaches at UAB.

Smith also has an M.L.S. (Masters of Library Science) from SUNY Buffalo and works part-time as a public librarian. She is currently working towards her M.F.A. (Masters in Fine Arts) in Creative Writing at Miami University of Ohio. She specializes in poetry and has three books of poetry, Organic Furniture Cellar (Outside Voices Press 2006), Life-List (Chax Press 2015), and How to Know the Flowers (Veliz Books, forthcoming).

When she's not working, Smith enjoys writing poetry, hiking, making handmade books, binge watching shows on Netflix, and hanging out with her son and pets.
