""Originally from East Tennessee, Wendy Dinwiddie is a queer Appalachian writer, editor, and educator. She is a graduate of the MFA program in Creative Writing at the University of Alabama, where she served as an editor of the Black Warrior Review. Her writing has recently appeared in Ploughshares, Mississippi Review, and Fairy Tale Review, as well as elsewhere.

Her creative work explores themes of land enclosure, ecological devastation, grief, and opioid addiction in Appalachian communities. She has worked with young and young-at-heart writers in classrooms across Appalachia through such programs as Humanities Tennessee, the STAY Project, and the Writers in the Schools project at the University of Alabama. She now teaches freshman composition here at UAB.
