Students collect baby items

SSWO was able to collect a car-seat, a stroller, diapers, wipes, clothes, and other baby goods.

Study abroad in Kenya

A group of social work students who went to Kenya this spring break for study abroad presented their experiences at UAB's Spring EXPO.

Caroline Wood, a social work honors student, presented a poster on her research project titled "Prevalence and Predictors of Antiretoviral Medication Non-Adherence among HIV/HCV Co-infected Patients in Clinical Care."

Dr. Stacy Moak was recognized as a Faculty Fellow in Engaged Scholarship on March 23, 2018.

The UAB Department of Social Work celebrated Social Work Month with students and their families. Grace Dugger, SW Alumni Society President, was the keynote speaker.

BSW Students Caroline Wood and Melody Higgins, along with Dr. Laurel Hitchcock, attended the University of Alabama's School of Social Work DC Fly-In.

A group of social work students who are going to Kenya during Spring Break spent an evening sewing reusable napkins at Bib & Tucker.

NASW annual advocacy day

Thirteen students took this excellent opportunity to practice their policy and advocacy skills, and learn more about how politics work in Alabama.

Dr. D. Scott Batey, Assistant Professor of Social Work, and his colleagues have won the UAB College of Arts and Sciences interdisciplinary team award.

The Student Social Work Organization sponsored a documentary about the impact of clean water on villages in Kenya.

Faculty members of the Department of Social Work participated in the Society for Social Work (SSWR) and Research conference in Washington, D.C.

Shelbi White was present at the UAB Student Involvement Fair to showcase the Student Social Work Organization, recruit new members, and answer any questions from students about the organization.

Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) had a successful goods drive for community organizations in Birmingham. These goods will help our fellow community members who are in need.

To commemorate World AIDS Day, the Department of Social Work acknowledges the substantial progress that has been made to prevent HIV transmission.

Birmingham Neighborhood Studies explores the visual and material culture, history, and urban development of four Birmingham neighborhoods in transition.
