Print media artist Rich Gere comes to UAB from the Department of Art and Design at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Two free exhibitions will be featured Sept. 10-Oct. 20 in UAB’s AEIVA as part of the conference.

AEIVA will host a solo exhibition for UAB Assistant Professor of Sculpture Stacey Holloway, who is the recipient of SECAC’s annual Artist’s Fellowship. AEIVA recently spoke with Holloway about her work and the upcoming exhibition, which opens Sept. 10.

The Birmingham Museum of Art will celebrate a new book by Professor Heather McPherson, Ph.D., Art and Celebrity in the Age of Reynolds and Siddons (Penn State University Press, 2017). McPherson is an art history professor in the Department of Art and Art History. For the BMA’s event,“Art & Celebrity” on Wednesday, May 17, McPherson will give a special lecture at 6 p.m. in the Museum’s Steiner Auditorium, followed by a book signing and reception.
During the presentation of “Flat Granny and Me: A Procession in My Mind,” Department of Art and Art History students from Jenny Fine’s class The Collected Narrative will have their own collaborative installations on view.
Commissioned by the BMA, the to-scale replica of its newly remodeled galleries is a tool to help curators plan exhibitions and more. It was used for the upcoming Jan. 29 exhibition “Third Space /shifting conversations about contemporary art.”
