Secrets In Stone

Dr. Cathleen Cummings, Associate Professor of Art History, is featured in UAB Magazine this month for her work decoding religious carvings on the eight-century Virupaksha Temple in Pattadakal, India.
The first book by University of Alabama at Birmingham Associate Professor of Art History Cathleen Cummings, M.A., Ph.D., “Decoding a Hindu Temple: Royalty and Religion in the Iconographic Program of the Virupaksha Temple, Pattadakal,” has been published.
A group of 50 rising ninth- and 10th-graders from Woodlawn High School will enjoy an early college experience at the University of Alabama at Birmingham through the Summer Bridge Program from July 28-31.
University of Alabama at Birmingham Assistant Professor of Art Doug Barrett, MFA, and senior Betsy Cates, who is majoring in studio art graphic design, have been chosen to attend the a2ru Emerging Creatives Student Conference from Thursday, Jan. 30, through Saturday, Feb. 1, at Stanford University.
