UAB senior Shanquela Williams says she has a passion to change the world. And she’s off to a good start: In the spring of 2016, she made a difference in the lives of children in the west African nation of Ghana, where she spent a semester studying social work.

UAB to Launch New Master of Social Work Program With Focus on Health and Behavioral Health
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Social Work has announced the formation of a Master of Social Work (MSW) program commencing in the fall of 2017.
Last fall, Department of Social Work students got the chance to work with the United Way of Central Alabama’s 2-1-1 Information and Referral Line.
Shanquela Williams, junior social work major, will spend the spring semester in Ghana as part of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program.
