The U.S. Office of Personnel Management facilitates a valuable leadership development experience known as the Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF).

Many Blazers donate to and engage with the Benevolent Fund, a charitable giving campaign that supports health and human service agencies, selected health-related charities, and University of Alabama at Birmingham employees through the Employee Emergency Assistance Program.

This is the College’s highest honor, and is awarded to prominent alumni who have achieved distinction through exceptional contributions to their professions.

2016 Alumni Awards

Congratulations to our 2016 Alumni Award winners. These accomplished individuals represent the values we champion in the College of Arts and Sciences: ethical and moral reasoning, the scientific method, cultural competency, communication, and confidence in the face of complexity.
Dr. Johnny Bates, Mr. Joseph Meadow, IV, Ms. Joy O’Neal, Mr. Tim Stephens were among 25 UAB alumni recognized for their success at a company they founded, owned or managed.
UAB’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is now ranked number 68 in the nation, up from 73 in 2012, according to the U.S. News & World Report ranking of 200 top graduate programs.
At this year’s luncheon the program awarded the MPA Hall of Fame Award for 2014 and 2015, which is given to an alum with at least ten years of experience in a public service career who has exemplified public service values.
Department of Government alumnus Wayne Heard, now a council executive assistant for the City of Birmingham and law student, attended the 2015 Congressional Black Caucus's "Boot Camp" program in July.
