Cyber Security 2020 Event Cancelled
The Cyber Security 2020 event sponsored by the Department of Computer Science has been cancelled. Contact the department for more information.
The awardees will be honored at a luncheon Friday, June 23, at the UAB National Alumni Society House.

The Department of Art and Art History’s BFA exhibition is a highlight of students’ BFA undergraduate career. A free opening reception is set for 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 28.
The UAB Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter hosted an Alumni Night at Regions Field for the UAB vs. Alabama baseball game on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Eleven students will attend the conference, with registration paid by donors. Exhibitions by student and professional artists are planned at Sloss and around Birmingham, including UAB’s Project Space.

Training Offered for NSF CAREER Awards
The UAB College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to again offer campus-wide training to junior faculty planning to apply for a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award.

Writer, Composer and Performer Daniel Beaty Recipient of the 2017 Ireland Distinguished Visiting Scholar Award
Beaty will speak and perform his 2006 critically acclaimed, off-Broadway solo play, “Emergency,” at 4 p.m. Friday, March 10, in UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

UAB Fall Commencement Ceremony, Doctoral Hooding Dec. 17
An estimated 625 students will participate in the commencement ceremony, and 745 students will graduate. The university’s highest degrees will be conferred on 79 students from 18 states and seven countries in the doctoral hooding ceremony.

UAB’s Yakov Kasman to Perform Dec. 6 in Alabama Symphony Orchestra’s Concertmaster and Friends Series
Kasman will join ASO members for “Quintessential Quintets” to perform two great piano quintets, one from the 19th century by Robert Schumann and one from the 20th century by Dmitry Shostakovich.

UAB Art’s Project Space Hosts One-Night Only Student Showcases on Collage and Photography, Dec. 6 and 13
Two, one-night only student showcases are set for Project Space, presented by the University of Alabama at Birmingham College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History. Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Ireland Awards
Dr. Frans B.M. de Waal was named the 2016 Ireland Distinguished Visiting Scholar, and Dr. Charles Amsler was named the recipient of the 2016 Ireland Prize for Scholarly Distinction.
The Department of Chemistry's Summer 2016 seminars will be held in CHEM 101, 901 14th Street South, at 11:00 a.m., unless otherwise noted.

A Busy Fall Semester
“Dancing at Lughnasa,” the Interlude: Space+Body show in the Department of Art and Art History, Homecoming, Hoops on the Haasephalt, the Scholarship and Awards Luncheon, the Faculty Book Party and the Alumni Awards reception were just some of the incredible events at the College during the Fall semester.
The UAB Gospel Choir blew the roof off the Alys Stephens Center on November 15th during their 20th anniversary concert as they celebrated with the Birmingham community.
Artist and juror Paul Rusconi selected the works by students in the Department of Art and Art History. A free lecture by Rusconi is set for 5 p.m. April 1, followed by a free opening reception.
