MPA Alumni Mentor Program

“MPA Alumni Mentor Program—Connecting and Developing Colleagues” began in the Fall 2017 semester. Before applying to the program, students must have one semester of the MPA Program completed, be a member of MPASA or UAB ICMA, and be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The program length is one semester (10 weeks) and includes the following benefits:

  • Students are paired with a MPA alumni mentor in a closely related field to student’s interests
  • Monthly career goals counseling
  • Monthly professional development advising
  • Monthly short reading & discussion to coalesce with goals
  • Tour of mentor’s organization and their role within it
  • Tutor student in career technology
  • Connect student with local career leaders

A professional development certificate will be awarded to those that satisfactorily complete the program.
