Board Member

Scottie Y. McClaney is a graduate of Stillman College with a Bachelor‘s in Business Administration, a 2013 University of Alabama at Birmingham Master’s in Public Administration graduate, and in process of completing course work for a Doctor of Public Administration. Scottie has held several professional leadership roles, but is now intensely dedicated to her new nonprofit Peek-A-Boo Vision. The mission of Peek-A-Boo Vision is to get eye exams and eyeglasses for children in underserved communities. Scottie is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for citizens in Birmingham through community engagement.

Scottie is 2020 Emerge America alumnae with the mission to increase the number of Democratic women leaders from diverse background in public office through recruitment, training and providing a powerful network. Scottie is a current Birmingham City Council appointee of Downtown Redevelopment Authority Board of Directors, and past appointee for Birmingham Parking Authority Board of Directors. Memberships in local organizations with national affiliations such as: Alabama Democratic Women, National Congress of Black Women, Inc. Birmingham Chapter, League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Scottie supports: 846 Breathe Race Series (in memory of Mr. George Floyd), 5K at the Junction, Pink goes Red for Heart Health, Care for the Caregiver, and Women’s Health Care and Wellness. Scottie lives in Norwood; enjoys traveling, collecting magnets, and bowling.
