Political science majors and minors meeting eligibility requirements may join Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. Inductees must be juniors or seniors with a 3.00 GPA overall and a 3.25 GPA in political science, with at least 12 credit hours in political science.

The benefits of membership include participating in UAB Upsilon Mu Chapter activities and events, including:

  • visiting speakers
  • sponsored debates for local political candidates
  • the opportunity to publish research in the Pi Sigma Alpha Undergraduate Journal of Politics
  • the opportunity to apply to several scholarships and awards
  • tuition reductions for several Washington internships
  • discounts on the GRE and LSAT exams and test preparation courses
  • discounts on several private partners programs (such as GEICO)

The induction ceremony is held during the spring semester. Interested students should contact the faculty advisor for the UAB chapter, Renato Corbetta. Lifetime membership for inductees is currently $35. For the admission fee, students receive an induction certificate and a Pi Sigma Alpha lapel pin.
