Research Interests

My research is primarily focused on how aging and pathological processes such as Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Dementia impacts driving and mobility. I am using data from the 20-year longitudinal A.C.T.I.V.E. (Advanced Cognitive Training for Independent and Vital Elderly) clinical trial for my dissertation research, in which I am examining changes in driving habits and driving maneuvers/skills that precede diagnoses of MCI, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Dementia. Through my research I aim to provide further knowledge for health professionals who must make a determination of when older adults should cease driving.
