Providing analytic expertise and resources to biomedical researchers is a top priority for CCTS Informatics. The CCTS Bioinformatics Core includes analysts and programmers who work with investigators in the development of grant proposals as well as in the analysis and reporting of research involving 'omics datasets. We also provide bioinformatics solutions to support analytical needs, including installation and support of tools that run on the local UAB high performance computing clusters such as Galaxy, a web-based portal for the analysis of next generation sequence data.

CCTS Bioinformatics also provides data and analytic support for the following:

  • Next Generation Sequencing (e.g, whole genome and exome sequencing, RNAseq, CHiPseq, Methyl-seq)
  • Metagenomics
  • Microarrays
  • Microbiome
  • Big Data (e.g., TCGA)
  • Data storage, management, and sharing plans
  • Southeast Informatics Consortium (SIC)
  • Educational tools and programs
