Eugene Jarecki is an acclaimed filmmaker, who has twice won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. His films include the Emmy Award-winning Regan (HBO, 2011), the Trail of Henry Kissinger (BBC/Sundance, 2002), and Freakonomics (Magnolia, 2010). He has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Charlie Rose, The Colbert Report, FOX News, CNN, among other programs and has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and GQ.
In the documentary The House I Live In — the 2012 Sundance Film Festival winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary — Jarecki captures the emotional, societal, and human repercussions of the four-decade failed war on drugs.
Jarecki’s film puts faces and stories to a drug war that has affected all corners of the criminal justice system and has disproportionately hurt poor black communities.
