Call for Applications: Faculty Success Program Grant

The Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is offering a competitive grant for faculty at UAB to attend the NCFDD Summer 2019 Faculty Success Program May 19 – August 10, 2019.

The Faculty Success Program is a 12-week program for faculty of all ranks who are looking for the perfect combination of empirically-tested methods to improve research productivity through intense accountability, coaching, and peer support and to propel their work-life balance and personal growth to a whole new level. The Faculty Success Program is a 12-week Bootcamp where you will learn to: 

  • Understand how to manage time challenges scholars face in balancing research, teaching, and service with home life
  • Avoid the most common time management mistakes
  • Develop a consistent writing routine to increase research productivity
  • Learn why and how to align work time with institutional priorities, personal values, and long-term goals
  • Develop a network of support and accountability for academic writing
  • Engage a local network of mentors for long-term success

Limited Number of Sponsorships Available

Tuition for the Faculty Success Program is $3,950. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will provide 50% tuition and the other 50% of the tuition will be provided by the dean of the faculty member's school/college. All tenure-track and tenured faculty are eligible to participate. Women and applicants from historically underrepresented populations are especially encouraged to apply.

To apply for the Faculty Success Program Grant, please complete the application form and submit no later than 5:00 pm, March 15, 2019.  Participants will be chosen through a competitive internal selection process and decisions will be announced by April 1, 2019.

How to Activate Your UAB Sponsored Membership:

  1. Go to the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity website (
  2. Select the “Become a Member” tab and choose “Claim Your Institutional Membership.”
  3. From the drop-down menu choose "The University of Alabama at Birmingham."
  4. Follow instructions to complete the registration form using your UAB email address (your blazerid @ ).
  5. Once you have submitted your registration information and NCFDD has approved your connection to UAB, you should receive a welcome email.
