The School of Education is home to two departments: the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Department of Human Studies.
With the development of reflective teachers as our goal, the Department of Curriculum & Instruction houses The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accredited programs of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, and English as a Second Language programs. With a range of degrees specific to program areas, we provide innovative pedagogy to ensure quality teachers in increasingly diverse contexts.
The Department of Human Studies is broad and diverse, with undergraduate and graduate degree offerings in Physical Education (including concentrations in teacher certification, fitness leadership, and exercise science), Health Education (including concentrations in community health and human services), Counselor Education (including concentrations in school counseling and clinical mental health), and Educational Leadership. We continue to meet the demand for services to students throughout the School of Education through our Educational Foundations and our Educational Psychology and Research program areas.
