UAB is transitioning to ProctorU Live + at the start of the Spring 2020 semester. 

 This update does not impact the process of faculty scheduling exams. The main impact is the student experience. Students must download a chrome/Firefox extension before starting the exam. See below for more details:


Along with the following updates, please note that Carissa Knapp is replacing Amanda Hileman as our ProctorU CSM (Customer Service Manager). Her contact information can be found under Instructor Training on the eLearning ProctorU webpage.

Student Experience

  • Students download a Google Chrome or Firefox Extension prior to starting their exam
  • New Test your equipment page
  • Features that should decrease technical difficulties experienced by students

Faculty Experience

  • There is no change in how faculty schedule their exams
  • Faculty can now set up a practice exam so that students can get acclimated to the testing experience. Contact Carissa to get this enabled for your course. Please note: While Carissa can enable the practice exam for your course, faculty are responsible for driving the students to take the exam.
  • Faculty can also have students use the new Test your equipment page which requires students to log in before testing their computer. Instructors can receive a report of which students accessed the test page and completed the check along with the test log results.
  • Lots of improvements and new features including improved DVR, live flag reviews, and improved reporting in addition to some new features that should

What should I do?

  • Check your Canvas course and Syllabus to ensure that all links and information are directing to the eLearning ProctorU page. We recommend linking to the entire page instead of individual items.
