Leave & Retirement


In Facilities HR, we can assist with all types of Leave. We have the forms printed out and available, and can set you on the right track for a worry-free application experience. Contact us or drop by to talk about potential options for: 

  • Military Leave – All we need are your orders placing you on Leave. Up to 21 paid days per year.
  • FMLA Leave – Protects your job for up to 60 work days per rolling 12-month period while either you, your spouse, child, parent, or sponsored dependent are out with a serious medical condition. May be taken as a continuous Leave or Intermittently, based on your doctor’s and UAB Employee Health’s recommendations.
  • Paid Parental Leave – Eligible employees may receive up to 160 hours (20 days) Paid Leave to care for and/or bond with their new child, including adoptions.
  • Personal Leave – In certain circumstances, employees may be granted up to 160 hours (20 days) of Personal Leave per rolling 12-month period.

While most aspects of your Retirement are handled through Central HR, we can help with the process of your leaving the Facilities Division, including providing you with a gift card to thank you for your years of service with UAB.
