When applying to a graduate program, please note the following requirements during the application process:

  • If you were born in a country other than the United States, but claim United States citizenship, we require proof of United States citizenship as part of the application process.  Please submit a copy of your United States passport to gradschool@uab.edu.  
  • If you are a permanent resident, we require a copy of the front and back of a valid green card as part of the application process.  Please submit a copy of the front and back of your valid green card to gradschool@uab.edu
  • If you are international and currently in the United States, we require immigration documentation as part of the application process.  Please submit a copy of your immigration documentation (I-20, DS-2019, visa stamp, I-94, I-797, etc.) to gradschool@uab.edu.  If you are admitted, it will be forwarded to the International Recruitment & Student Services Office for review so they can determine if your paperwork is sufficient for their purposes.
  • If you are international but are overseas at the time of applying, or if you are international and applying to an online-only program, we do not require immigration documentation.
