Grad Student Fun Nights: Join the Graduate School and your fellow graduate students every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. CST for a night of fun and skill building.
Each week will focus on a different area — cooking, arts & crafts, writing, etc. Graduate student volunteers will demonstrate a particular skill or hobby during an informal virtual event and teach viewers how to do it. Students are welcome to purchase the supplies/ingredients needed for each activity and join in the fun, or they can just watch and socialize.

March 24 | 7 p.m. CST | Featured topic: Aromatherapy Candles
Biology doctoral student Melissa Walker will be teaching us how to make simple aromatherapy candles. If we have time, she will also cover how to recycle old candles that are at the end of their life! This might require additional supplies from what's in the list below.
Supplies:
In addition to this, people will need:
- large pot for boiling water (preferably one they don't want to use for cooking anymore)
- pencil(s) or wood skewer(s)
- their aromatherapy scents if they purchase a kit without the scents included (see below)
The easiest is to purchase scents made for candles from Hobby lobby, Michaels or even through Amazon. For the two candles in the kit, 15-30 mL (~1 ounce) should be sufficient.
If you want to use essential oils, then they need the essential oils plus a carrier oil (argan or jojoba work best). This gets a little expensive, so for a beginner, Melissa would recommend a pre-made candle scent that is already formulated to burn well in wax.
