UAB Employee Assistance & Counseling Center offers confidential support services for Homewood City School System employees and members of their immediate household. A dedicated team of certified counselors, an extensive collection of online resources and a schedule of programs and events are all designed to help you identify, understand and resolve work-related and personal issues to help you achieve successful work/life integration. All Homewood City School System employees and members of their immediate household are eligible for unlimited free sessions.

  • Traditional Counseling

    The UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center offers individual, couples and family counseling to help HCS employees and members of their immediate household resolve work-related and personal problems. Our staff includes counselors specializing in marriage and family counseling, play therapy, group counseling, alcohol and drug abuse aftercare, EMDR, critical incident stress management, aging and caregiver issues, employee assistance, career counseling, art therapy and more.

  • Financial Counseling

    Need financial guidance but not sure where to start? An individualized financial wellness counseling session will help you gain a better understanding of your financial situation, while teaching you the best options for managing your finances and paying off debt.

    The Employee Assistance & Counseling Center offers a variety of personalized services to help you take control of your finances. A financial wellness counselor will work with you to develop a personal financial assessment by analyzing your income, expenses, assets and liabilities.

  • Distance Counseling

    The UAB Employee Assistance & Counseling Center offers Distance Counseling services via face-to-face video conferencing. The EACC staff includes seven certified distance credentialed counselors, trained in best practices for delivering traditional counseling through technological means, and distance counseling sessions are conducted through HIPAA-compliant video-conferencing system Zoom, which can be downloaded on smartphones, tablets or computers.

  • Tobacco Cessation

    The UAB Employee Assistance & Counseling Center provides four free nicotine counseling sessions per employee per calendar year. The sessions are conducted by licensed mental health professionals either in one-on-one or group counseling sessions. These tobacco cessation sessions are offered in addition to the free benefit of unlimited counseling sessions available to HCS employees.

  • Life Coaching

    Life coaching is for the person who needs guidance with personal goals and just doesn’t know where to start or for the person who has had problems achieving personal goals. Your EACC life coach will assist you with plan development and provide support as a partner in your vision for self-improvement.

  • Programs & Events

    The UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center supports you in achieving successful work-life integration in all areas of life by providing informational classes, support groups, and psycho-educational and stress management programs including gentle yoga. Classes are offered at no cost to HCS employees and members of their immediate household.
