HOW CAN WE HELP YOU TODAY?

UAB and UAB Medicine utilizes an online application process.  Each job we post online has a unique identification number. Within each job description, we list the job title and position requirements necessary to be considered qualified for the position. Applications will be considered only for current job vacancies.  Follow these tips to apply for a position:
  • Search
On the job search page, search by job field, job location, posting date, or job schedule.  Use the advanced search button for other search field options.  Once you find the job of interest, click Apply.  New Users must create an account after clicking apply.  
  • Create an Account  
After clicking apply, click New User.  If you accept the privacy agreement, click I accept.  Follow the guidelines to create a user name and password and click register. 
  • Resume
Resumes are recommended but not required.  Acceptable formats for uploading a resume are Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) files.  Uploading a resume that is in a text format will assist in completing your application automatically (word, pdf, etc.) .Scanned resumes and other formats are not acceptable and will not be read by our system.  
Note: Please thoroughly and accurately complete all requested information in the application even after uploading a resume. Incomplete applications may not be given full consideration.  Responses such as "See Resume" are considered incomplete.
  • Cover Letter Cover letters are recommended but not required. To include a cover letter, you must upload a Word (.doc) or PDF (.pdf) file at the attachment step of the application.  It is not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific person.
  • How do I know my application was submitted successfully? An automated email confirming receipt of your application will be sent when an application is successfully submitted. If you do not receive an email notification, please check your spam folder or sign in to your account to review your “my job page” tab. If you are selected for further review, a member of our HR department or the hiring manager will contact you. 
  • How do I check the status of my application? You may track the progress of your application by signing in and clicking the “My Job Page” tab.  You will see the status of your application by the position.  You can click the status to review the meaning.  

Before an offer of employment has been extended to the successful candidate, a complete background screening will be conducted. This background screening includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Identify verification through a Social Security number trace
  • A review of local, state, and federal criminal conviction records including an Office Inspector General/General Services Administration (OIG/GSA) check
  • Verification of past employment and education history
  • Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) (where required)

You will receive an email confirmation once you have completed the initial online application process. To ensure that the information submitted was completed accurately, you are encouraged to log back in to your account and review your information. You will also receive an email confirmation after successfully applying for a specific position.
Your application and qualifications will be reviewed by Recruitment Services for the minimum qualifications and the department's preferred skills and experience for the position. The hiring manager will review applications from the forwarded candidates and select those they are interested in contacting for an interview. The hiring manager or another UAB representative will contact an applicant directly if they are interested in arranging an interview. Following the interviews, the hiring manager will select the most suitable candidate for the position.
You can login to your account to review the status of positions to which you have applied. This is the most effective way to check on your application. We regret that due to the large volume of applications UAB receives, we are unable to respond to each candidate individually regarding the status of their application.
Visit your online profile to check the application status of job(s) you have applied for online. Be sure to remember the BR##### and the job title associated with the job(s) in question.
 
The "Current Status" lists your status as an applicant for each specific job you have applied for.
The Five HR "Current Status" Descriptions are:
Information Received by UAB HR You have successfully completed the online submission process
Under Review Your application materials are under initial review by UAB Recruitment Services
In Progress Your application materials are continuing to be reviewed
Interviewed You have been scheduled for an interview with UAB Hospital (not used for Campus positions)
Does Not Meet Qualifications Your application materials do not confirm that you meet qualifications for the position
 
The "Job Status" lists the overall situation for a particular job in question, not specific to you as an applicant.
The Four "Job Status" Descriptions are:
Open The job is open for applicants to apply online or the job is not posted, but not filled
On Hold The job is no longer open for applicants
Closed The job has been filled
Canceled The job will not be filled
 
Don’t panic! Step 1: Go to the log-in screen and click on "Forgot your password?" Step 2: Enter your email address. Step 3: Once submitted, an email message with the subject line "Password recovery" will be sent to the email address associated with your user profile. Step 4: Please follow the link in the email and the instructions to reset your password. You will need to do this as quickly as possible after receiving the temporary password, because it will expire and cannot be used after 48 hours.
If you experience technical issues while applying online with UAB, here are a few suggestions:Ensure your web browser is accepting cookies.  Clear your cache.  If you are using Google Chrome as a web browser, please note you may experience issues with our website; Once you have applied for a position online on our website, you will receive an e-mail confirming that you applied. If you don’t receive this e-mail, you should first check your junk e-mail box. If the message isn’t there, this can mean your application did not go through successfully and you should re-apply.  For other technical support issues, please contact us at uabjobs@uab.edu

The Faculty and Staff Survey Continues to Make a Difference

The Faculty and Staff Climate Survey was distributed to university employees in September, 2010. The results of the survey motivated a number of changes and improvements in schools and departments all over campus. Most of the changes have centered around better communication within the schools and departments and opportunities for employee career development and training.

It is apparent that the climate survey continues to influence positive changes at UAB and progress is being made toward the goal of making UAB a great place to work.

Temporary Services hires temporary employees on a part-time or full-time basis for any hour of the day, including weekends. We provide employee opportunities in the following areas:

All applicants who are offered and accept a position with UAB Temporary Services that will be assigned to engagements within UAB Medicine will be tested for nicotine during a regular pre-employment drug screen. Applicants who have cotinine levels above the threshold will have their employment offer rescinded. Those who test positive are welcomed to re-apply after 60 days.  

The above policy does not apply to those Temporary Services employees on assignment with UAB University Campus.
