UAB Human Resources is actively working to improve the UAB employee learning experience by empowering individuals to grow personally and professionally. Our key objectives are to:

  • Provide an enhanced, user-friendly learning experience with easy access to a multitude of learning opportunities
  • Embrace the various learning solutions across the enterprise and unite them for maximum effectiveness and ease of use
  • Improve compliance through automated course assignment and enhanced reporting

Through enterprise-wide collaboration, HR recognized areas for improvement needed to achieve these goals. Key improvements to the UAB employee learning experience are:

  • A new Campus Learning Management System to deliver online regulatory, compliance and department-specific learning for campus employees (workgroups A and Faculty) and registration for OL&D instructor-led courses for all UAB employees and UAB affiliates.
  • An upgrade from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning, providing access to all of the Lynda.com courses, plus thousands of new courses, as well as lots of new, exciting features.
  • Redesign of the Learning & Development website to promote lifelong employee learning and facilitate access to a variety of learning opportunities.
  • Deployment of the UAB Learning Locker, where employees can access their comprehensive learning history and learning completion certificates, and organization administrators can access individual and department training history.

The upgrade to LinkedIn Learning was completed in August 2019. The timeline for other features to roll out is fall 2019 through early spring 2020. If you have any questions, please email UAB Learning & Development at learndev@uab.edu or call 205-934-3359.
