In the face of adversity, faculty and staff rise above the challenges in their paths to ensure that UAB clings to its shared values and continues to be a leader in higher education. This year has tested our mettle but not overwhelmed it.
In recognition of these efforts, we are proud to announce the President’s Award for Excellence in Shared Values. The President’s Award for Excellence in Shared Values will honor a combined 20 faculty and staff whose work has exemplified and embodied one or more of the values that propel our institution during the extraordinary times presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nominations are submitted electronically and housed in a database for easier retrieval and administration. Those submitting a nomination or uploading a document will be asked to highlight at least one of the UAB Shared Values and explain how the nominee has demonstrated that value.
The nomination must clearly demonstrate that the nominee meets the selection criteria and eligibility requirements. An advisory committee from the Faculty Senate and the Staff Council shall review the nominations and present recommendations to the President. The President shall make the final determination of the recipients of the award.
The award criteria include the following:
UAB encourages those making awards, and those naming selection committees for awards to keep in mind the diversity, equity, and inclusion values and goals of UAB’s strategic plan Forging the Future and of the Strategic Diversity Plan.
