Brought to you by Boozer Farms
We are so excited to announce the return of The Farm Stand. As always, The Farm Stand will be bringing fresh fruits and veggies and other delicious treats to the hospital each week. This year we want to welcome Boozer Farms who will now be operating The Farm Stand.
Boozer Farms, located in Chilton County, is a small family run farm that is committed to supporting their local community through thoughtfully grown produce, education and generosity. Boozer Farms’ produce is made available to consumers through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, at local community farmers’ markets and through local restaurants. Their fresh fruits and vegetables will know be made available to the UAB family at the weekly Farm Stand.
Boozer Farms first began in the summer of 2003 when the eldest Boozer daughter (Taylor) began transporting and selling produce to Auburn to offset her tuition expenses. Now almost 13 years later the farm has grown from a small strawberry patch in the front field to acres of field ripened fruits and vegetables. Although extra hands are now needed to plant, care for and pick the wide variety of crops that are grown it is still a family affair. Taylor’s father Bobby retired from his career in agriculture with Auburn University in 2012 to work alongside his daughter and help make her dream of farming fulltime become a reality. The two strive to make sure that they are supporting their local communities by providing a wide diversity of the highest quality, best tasting produce they can grow. They believe that fresh local produce is important to our community because of the endless benefits of eating locally. These benefits include reduced transportation and storage inputs as well as better quality produce with potentially higher nutritional value and longer shelf-life. Taylor is very excited to be joining the UAB family through the weekly market and looks forward to meeting those who love fresh produce as much as her family does!
